Oh..You may be saying what is with this title, but for the last five years I have entered the pie contest at the Iowa State Fair. I have won a handful of ribbons. This has given me soo much encouragement in my recipes and cooking efforts. This year will be different. I am furthering my education this year to advance my career. This means that on the day of pie judging, I will be taking a final for my summer class. I am still going to try and enter a pie or two, but I don't think that I will be entering 10 pies as I did last year.
I do think though that I may enter some different contests this year. It is time to broaden my horizon's as I say. So, here it is. The next few months of my blog will be devoted to the homemade way of life. I am on a quest to make wonderful food that will be proud to stand at the Iowa State Fair.
This blog has turned into a collection of my Frugal recipes I serve to my family. Take a journey with me and learn to make frugal Midwestern fare for your family staying within your budget.

I have found a winner in my house. We are trying to find new ways to use up our Easter Ham. I dug this recipe out of my box and the kids love it!
Ham Casserole
8 oz. noodles, cooked
8 oz. cooked ham, diced
1 med. onion, chopped
8 oz. sour cream
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 cans of green beans, drained
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredinets together. Place in a greased casserole dish. Bake for 30 minutes.

Frugal Leftovers
I have been racking my brain over the last few days to use up my ham from Easter. I have come up with using it to make a pineapple ham pizza tonight. Will post recipe later today!
